Children & Youth

The Children and Youth Network has been set up to bring together organisations who work with children and young people, with the intention of disseminating information, sharing best practice and facilitating informal partnerships between voluntary sector service providers. The network also exists to liaise with statutory partners to better realise positive outcomes for young people. The network currently exists as a virtual entity with members coming together for training or bespoke events.

The network is co-ordinated by Lee Hind, the 3rd Sector Families First Co-ordinator, based in PAVS. Lee has held this post since its inception in July 2003 having previously been a Community Development Worker, Youth Worker and Volunteer Workshop Facilitator for a variety of voluntary organisations in Pembrokeshire. Lee has led work on participation in decision making by children and young people whilst in post and this continues to be a passion for him. Lee has also played a pivotal role in the rolling out of best practice across the sector, specifically within the safeguarding arena.

One of the key areas for the Children and Youth Network in the next year is the challenge around the co-production agenda - click here for an excellent introductory paper on the subject.
