Core Aim 2 Group

The Welsh Assembly Government has created 7 Core Aims that govern how services are delivered to children and young people. Pembrokeshire's Children and Young People's Partnership have created a group to cover each of these Core Aims and to deliver services against them.

Core Aim 2 is that "All children and young people have a comprehensive range of education and learning opportunities"

Pembrokeshire has agreed 3 broad priorities in this area. They are:

  • Provision of support for the development of young people whose progression is uncertain on leaving school with particular focus on specific targeted groups
  • Strengthened support for disengaged young people through early intervention and prevention
  • Consolidate and develop services for children with additional learning needs with particular focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders.

There is also an over-arching priority in this Core Aim group of "Raising standards and increasing effectiveness in schools"

The Core Aim group has worked on an action plan for each priority and these will begin to be delivered from 31.10.08
